Let your Light Shine

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
We are all afraid of something.
One of the most common fears is of the dark. I am at times.
Think about it: why would someone be afraid of the dark?
-They'd get lost
-No sense of direction
-Can’t see/ loss of senses
-Stumble, or fall (get hurt)
-Isolation/ feel alone
The best thing to overcome those fears is with light; as you gain understanding and perspective of what is going on around you.
Just as there are different people in the world, there are many different sources of light.
Night-light
Star-light
Fire/ candle light
Flashlight
Lightning
Head-light
I know more can be listed; these were just a few that came to my mind while writing this.
However, there is one light source one might not initially think of; turn to John 8:12
"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
Jesus is the light of the world, and gives us the light of life!
That is what the Light of Life does for us when we become children of God and study His word.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee
Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Psalm 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Psalm 115:11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation.
We can understand what is going on around us and be given direction on how to navigate this dark world we live in. Shadows distort the view of reality. We are given God's word to bring clarity to the situations around us, which, in turn, we can be walking lights of God, which helps bring clarity to those around us. Each person is different in how they shine for God and can reach people that only can.
A quote from an unknown writer-
“When a flashlight grows dim or quits working, do you just throw it away? Of course not. You change the batteries. When a person messes up or finds themselves in a dark place, do you cast them aside? Of course not. You help them change their batteries. Some need AA… attention and affection, AAA… attention, affection, and acceptance; come need C… compassion: some need D… Direction… and if they still don’t seem to shine… simply sit with them quietly and share your light.”
